How to describe indead something you have not yet created? Well i will try to say what i have imagined and want to accomplish. I for once more turned to small to medium size canvaces because i belive that can serve two purposes. Firstly you can experiment more painterly because it's significantly easier to change a color for instance. Secondly the viewer has to come closer to the canvas, to see it and there is an intimacy i require between the paintings and the viewer to communicate. After all the painting gains life, is set in motion by the viewers eye. Each painting is different in style so far and conceptually as well. A lobster pirate, a monkey, a cropped to the chest woman in swimsuit are so far the subjects i have created. The description of this series will change over time as i create new paintings.

Mass culture selective conscience and stereotypes meet intimate stories, through an intrinsic association of words and sketches. Myth and instincts intervene with Hollywood movies, stereotypical aspects of love, death and beauty. Both images and words immerse spontaneously as a controlled short-circuit failure… “…how can I make it clear? I am a huge red orchestra…”

This series consists of paintings i have made during the period of 2013-2018. At the time i was making few paintings exploring formalism, trying to liberate my self from the shadows of artists i admired. It was a spiritual intrinsic journey to find other ways to narrate stories, most of the time inspired while painting. Most of them were made with arylics and oil pastels using oftenly grattage technique, building up the paintings with stories, layer over layer and then scratching back to previous versions...until the stories were revealed.

I was always fascinated by the idea to not impose on the painting area a artistic action directly, but use an element like fire instead…to be the creator of the image I would afterwards process. Technically I used a wooden surface as the base of the artwork and then with a tape I was sticking evenly toilet and kitchen paper. The creating process was to spill rubbing alcohol to the surface and set in on fire. I then used water to put out the fire, on an area I wanted to stay white or light gray and let other areas to burn to the degree I was satisfied. I also used iodine to color light red, specific areas of the artwork. After the burning process, I took some time to see what the sediments of fire have drawn and depict what I saw using only white to cover everything else. The toilet and kitchen paper have in most cases designs with thicker paper sometimes dots embossed. The fire let those dots to burn faster or slower and create an aboriginal dotting effect.

Shadows 2004-2006
The name of the series came up when he realized, that what he was creating, was a world of shadows, visually but conceptually also. Specifically, the forms that are depicted are mostly flat, without details, with distorted perspective and proportions. Conceptually, what dominates, is the need for subjective resynthesis, of a reality that has been under multiple rational and sentimental procedures by the artist. I would say that they are the echoes of ideas and phenomena, rather than a liberal depiction of them. Even though he uses symbolically some elements in the specific paintings, like for instance the fish, the way he does it, it is not forced or compels the viewer to a certain reading of the paintings. On the contrary it rather seems like a new visual language, a system, to communicate ideas. Therefore, fish sometimes signify threads of memories, other times agony, a foreign body to human and integral element at the same time.

Words are a composition of micro drawings that correspond to a certain meaning. However, if you turn a book upside down what you get is just drawings, or to be more accurate potential drawings. You can combine them, not by the proximity law, but by using your imagination. I dare to say that is like a starry night, where you choose which dots you will connect. In this series that is what I spontaneously did. I used the pages, of a outdated sex encyclopedia, as my canvas to project my thoughts, by connecting letters or words, to create abstract or semi abstract images. The content of the encyclopedia is indifferent. I mainly used colored ink pens, the primary colors, black and white. The sketches i have created I also combined them, as a diptych or triptych, to enhance the narrative form.

Shadows of human, animals, insects, inhabit a timeless space, where desire is disguised into a memory. The moment shifts to monumental depth, it’s magnified and expanded through time and space, like a frozen frame. The few elements that compose the paintings are charged with conceptual energy and symbolic meaning. The flower dandelion signifies the fragile and ephemeral side of life, the soldier toys figures the crystal purity of childhood but also instincts. The flying seeds the birth and hope for something better something true and sincere.

There is an ancient myth where Lycaon a king, invited Zeus for dinner and served him human flesh to prove that he tricked a god and therefore there are no gods. But Zeus found out the trap and turned Lycaon and his sons to wolves. I consider this myth as one of the first testaments of the restless human nature and the intrinsic conflicts between the need to control and concur and instinct that uncovers the fragility of thoughts and reason…the need to stay connected with nature as it is where the only time is now.
Wolves are also depicted to numerous civilizations both as sacred and diabolic creatures and I was also fascinated by the impact of these artworks myths, even fairy tales.
gods broken tooth is the title of the specific artworks because I believe that the story of Lycaon was among the first punches to reason and stereotypes to god itself and a cry a howl to free will, to freedom. Wolves are depicted in my drawings as carriers of messages from our soul but also as imprisoned suffocated feelings.
The depictions of wolves, in my paintings and drawings, are a medium to penetrate the inner self beyond square logic and fragile feelings, to the true animal-like function of the soul. They narrate the process of unveiling the multiple layers of rules, regrets and desires of civilization that hide the infinite being, the animal inside us all.

Long before I counted miles of painting on canvas, I counted thousands signs called letters, as most
of us did when we were students. I was fascinated by the mechanisms, the design of letters…where
aesthetically plus efficiently is the start of the mini drawing and where and when is the finish, until the
next one coming.
The fact that I write-draw so close to the surface of the traditional unprepared cloth-canvas, suggests
a physical intimacy and proximity with the alive object. Furthermore, the time required to sketch the
forms you connect through painted dots, but also the repetition itself during the movements designing,
reinforce the idea that a relationship, a persistent acquaintance, is taking place. The message I write
will reveal, the shape and place of the creatures. The repeated humble of the phrase for instance “how
long? Then only, only then”, submits me to a conceptual and emotional existence but also physical, of
longing.
