The creative association of amateur artists "Malki" from a small town in the north-west of Russia was formed in 1985. In 1990, the studio was awarded the title of People's Studio. Until 2018, the People's Studio was headed by Honored Worker of Culture of Karelia and Russia, member of the International Art Fund, member of the Union of Artists of Russia Lev Nikolaevich Burin (years of life 06.04.1943-07.11.2018) Lev Nikolaevich was a talented artist. He graduated from the Painting Faculty of the I. E. Repin Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture in Leningrad, in the workshop of Professor Yu. M. Neprintsev. In 1975, he opened a children's art school in the city of Medvezhegorsk. Many of Lev Burin's students became professional artists and designers. Today Lev Nikolaevich's students work in the studio: Gennady Kochetov (born 1963)- artist and teacher, member of the studio since 1985, head of the studio since 2019. Specialist in graphics: drawing, etching, watercolors, very versatile - landscape painter, portraitist, restorer. He works on birch bark, wood carving - any material is subject to him. The author of the coat of arms of the city of Medvezhegorsk. Maria Burina (born in 1973) is the daughter of Lev Burin, graduated from the Russian State Pedagogical University named after A. I. Herzen. Specialist in art history. He will always give professional advice, help to make a still life correctly. Prefers graphics, uses pencil, pastel. Engaged in batik. Maria is characterized by neatness, elegance and style in her work. Elena Vasilyeva (born 1963) has been a member of the studio since 1994. Landscape painter, reveals the beauty of his native land, using the classical style of the image. Works in oil and watercolor. The main thing in creativity is open-air and nature. Still life prefers thematic Maria Basenkova (born 1974) has been working in the studio since 1995. Lev Burin tried not to spoil her original talent. Maria - tsvetovik - uses color, its layering, as a basis in her work. She paints in oils, pastels and only on canvas. She is not afraid to take up multi-figure compositions, which she performs in the style of "primitivism". In still lifes, she uses authentic things with history. Alexey Gaufler (born in 1983) has been a member of the studio since 2002. He graduated from the art school of Lev Nikolaevich Burin, studied at the B.V. Ioganson Art Lyceum at the Russian Academy of Arts in St. Petersburg, a member of the Creative Union of Artists of Russia. Alexey is a talented artist, a creative personality. He tries himself in different genres and materials. Engaged in modeling and sculpture. Masterfully paints in watercolor. Very attentive to details. Galina Shepeleva (born in 1980) has been a member of the studio since 2016. Since childhood, she has been fond of photography and painting. She paints with oil in a realistic manner, inspired by the beauty and history of her native land. A quick, energetic writing style conveys the impression of what she saw and conveys to the viewer what she means. She puts meaning and romantic mood into her works. Anatoly Khokhryakov (born 1938) has been working in the studio since 2010. Since childhood, he dreamed of drawing, but only after retiring, he realized his dream. Lev Burin always praised his student for his courage and hard work. Anatoly loves nature very much, feels its beauty, his hobby is fishing. Boldly undertakes compositions where he depicts people, animals, birds. Works mainly in gouache. His style - "naiv" is very popular now. There is kindness and love for his small homeland in him. Age is not a hindrance to him - he always participates in plein-airs and exhibitions. Lyudmila Khukhlyakova (born in 1971) has been working in the studio since 2010. She came to the studio with her father Anatoly Khokhryakov. Lyudmila loves to draw still lifes, she is very attentive to details. The main trait of her character: hard work. She mostly paints with watercolors. Her favorite theme is flowers. Always participates in plein-airs and exhibitions.
