Les œuvres de Ueli Gantner ne se regardent pas de manière statique ; elles se vivent comme des images fugitives ! Dans la lignée des artistes cinétiques tels Jesus Rafael Soto, Julio Le Parc ou encore Carlos Cruz Diez…, Ueli Gantner joue avec notre perception visuelle, donnant à voir l’invisible, disant l’indicible. Ces sculptures murales en trois dimensions sont composées de lamelles de bois peintes et organisées de manière à créer d’autres formes et d’autres “sensations” colorées pour le spectateur en mouvement. Si des losanges, des cercles, des carrés ou toutes autres formes géométriques sont physiquement présentes, souvent mises en relief, le rythme des couleurs, les épaisseurs de lamelles, le jeu des découpes laissent entrevoir d’autres rythmes, d’autres couleurs et d’autres formes virtuelles par le simple déplacement physique du regardeur créant une oscillation. Il a souvent recours au nombre d’or et utilise quasi exclusivement les trois couleurs primaires chères à Mondrian — le bleu, le jaune et le rouge – qu’il marie parfois à leurs complémentaires — orange, vert et violet —, le blanc et le noir étant employés en fond ou en dominante. Cette économie chromatique sert son approche minimaliste et sa recherche de l’épure formelle. Une œuvre troublante, fascinante, ludique autant que mystique !
