I love painting in the open air when the lush greenery of the garden is rustling around and the shadows under the trees are not as dense as in the summer. I adore the bright peonies of the vibrant beet color! This color is getting absorbed by the eye, it is impossible to look away. I like little flowers that have not been exploded yet, how slowly they unfurl their splendor, how they bloom, smell and flutter with their beautiful heads... and then all the petals are fallen instantly or slowly, and and only the sweet spirit remains and confuses bees and bumblebees looking for a flower. I feel absolutely happy sitting near my bush with flowers and working.
I’m looking forward to May when everything begins to bloom, when I have to make time for painting. I usually work in May outdoors, in the open air with a style somewhere between impressionism and realism. I try to interpret the slightest shades of color, and the transparency of the air. Oil on canvas is my preferred technique.
Very often, I notice that my palette becomes much more attractive and more picturesque than the painting itself in the process of work… I hope, I can sometimes touch something genuine.
