Rok Bogataj was born in Ljubljana (Slovenia) in 1974. He graduated in 2002 at the Academy of fine Arts in Venice. His work is expressed through different mediums such as sculpture, photography, video, sound and drawing.
He composes archaeology of daily life using the materials that surround us in particularly plastic, wood and metal. He gives to these elements a new aesthetic present with the process of melts, moulds and reproduction. The use of vulgar materials and the practice of moulding (by the use of plastic bags for example) in the process of reproduction are his ways of representing sensuality.
He is currently working on the traces, both as a form to investigate, and a proof of a more or less recent origin that we should remember.
His work was presented in various solo and group exhibitions since 1997.
He lives and works in Ljubljana.
