The bronze sculpture freely rotates on the scorched yew base and regular turning produces different perspectives to avoid any one view becoming familiar.
The raised bronze pattern is mirrored so appears to pass through the blade.
The title of this abstract sculpture may hint at the beginnings but it remains open for personal interpretation and connection.

Philip Hearsey is a contemporary British sculptor. Hearsey is driven by an instinctive impulse to advance at his own pace and focus on building things, rather than engaging in certain theories. He uses his expertise in sandcasting to create sculptures that engage the quality of bronze as a noble material in and of itself, transforming observations and visualizations into three-dimensional realities. Hearsey's work is distinguished by its brilliant simplicity, fascinating designs, and tactile feel.
Philip Hearsey was born in 1946, in the UK. His sculptures are held in private and corporate collections across the globe.
