Bouquet of flowers for the 8th of March (2021) Painting by Oksana Dem-Art

A bright, big bouquet of flowers. The centerpiece of the bouquet are lily buds. They have not opened yet and shimmer against the dark leaves, transitioning from light lemon-yellow to gently pink. I wanted the flowers to fill the canvas so there is almost no space for the background. Only a bunch of willow sprigs were allowed to take up some space on the right side of the canvas. The canvas has a size of 60 x 60 cm and the flowers are a little bit bigger than in reality and therefore the painting has a monumental effect. I wanted a riot of colors on this canvas, therefore I mostly used pre-mixed, clear colors to avoid muting the colors, which often happens with acrylics when you mix a few colors, meaning they become darker and lose intensity. For green leaves and surroundings, on the contrary, I have used a complex mixture of colors to increase the brightness of the flowers in front of their muted background. The green leaves surround the bouquet with a dark silhouette. Mimosa sprigs and freshly bloomed young green leaves glow in contrast to the dark background. It presents a real spring bouquet painted in a realistic manner. This painting is suitable for any living room. It can be hung without a frame because the sides of the painting are an extension of the painting.
