Bronze sculptural composition, which is part of the cycle of works "Bronze Stories".Cossack Mamai is one of the most popular images of the Cossack knight in Ukraine of the 17-18 centuries. The canonical image is a Cossack playing the bandura sitting with crossed legs. Among the additional elements, the most common are a bottle of vodka (Gorilka) and an appetizer, an oak, and a Cossack horse grazing nearby. The bandura on which the Cossack plays is a symbol of the singing soul of the Ukrainian people. The horse in the picture symbolized loyalty, the oak symbolized fortitude. Often in folk painting, the Cossack was depicted with a spear and a flag, a flask, and a glass. These were things related to the death of a Cossack - a spear was placed at the burial site, a flask and glass were placed in the grave - they reminded of the fleetingness of life and the Cossack fate, in which the threat of death in battle was an everyday reality.
