Ecorces/ Barks collages 2D relief • 5 artworks
Tree bark fascinates me, they are witnesses of urban or rural history, demonstrating incredible resilience over cycles. Their maturity proves a singular strength. The roughness that disturbs the plant pattern during growth, shapes their subjectivity over the decades.
My 2D relief collages are inspired by textures, as well as the different hues of rhythmic lines through thicknesses. Manipulating paper allows me to create organic forms which reflect vulnerability or regenerative energy spells.

View allThe individuality of each tree inclined to a temporary capture of the living emanation. Each encounter requests a synchronisation of visual and emotional perception. The idea of the 'bar code' format summarizes the originality of organic formations. In order to detach ourselves from the global and uniform vision, the code becomes an emergence of details/ precisions that makes the ephemeral discoveries of plant cycles.

Across Provence, the vineyards stretch as far as the eye can see, arranged like battalions facing the cardinal points. They descend the hills from young plants to mature pillars sometimes hundred years old in geometric patterns.
The relationship between man and vine is historic. This rich and incomparable heritage has always been the pride of a region.
The vines are cut in a ritual way that generates twists, knots and eyelets as they grow.
Each vine showcases a torn rough bark with organic shapes and human postures. In the winter we feel it suffer stripped and calls to our compassion to endeavour that it will flourish again.
This series of drawings describes the individual features of vines that are marked by climatic and traditional cycles.

View allThese observational studies lead to an intimate examination of the environment. Finding the type of stroke, pressure or spacing demands a further understanding of layers and cycles. The monochromatic approach underpins all natural elements. My drawings endeavour to convey a sensibility I have developed through each encounter of the subject.
As Henri Cartier Bresson quoted: « Photography is an immediate reaction, drawing is a meditation. »

English:
The media are increasingly raising awareness of our need to safeguard forests for the well-being of the planet.
But where does this vital harmony that captivates us come from?
How do organisms achieve this eternal fulfilment?
Forests are structured organisations in which trees behave socially. A forest intimacy remains thanks to a harmony incorporating biodiversity adapted to the environment. The roots do not develop at random, they manufacture on their way exchanges of nutrients. As for human societies life together is easier, alone, the tree is delivered defenceless to atmospheric conditions; to live in safety, to enjoy great longevity and balance, it must maintain a community at all costs.
Not all trees benefit from the same conditions of development, they compensate for their weakness and strength, their balancing is done by the soil and their roots.
In the Wood Wild Web series, I studied a system of social relations which plays a role in the mechanisms of grouping communities as a network that can demonstrate the complexity of structures, so interweaving organic matter anchors in earth and creates inclusive interactivity.
I sought to express the sensitivity of the trees by giving a symbolic colour to its rhythmic and abstract flows.
The forest, symbol of resistance and sustainability has passed centuries, few enemies threaten it, it offers protection from the outside by the depth of its relations leading to harmony, a constant union and perpetual bonds.

View all« Les arbres m’apprennent la discrétion. »
