This piece started as part of an allegorical diptych looking at female figures in western art. The original composition was all but obliterated making way for a spacious realm predominantly white with subtle touches of the 'fracture' motif developed and used to a more heavy handed degree earlier in this series. What is revealed by the tentative growth of these forms is the struggle between detail and field based composition in abstract art. The artist and the eye both compressed into a fine scattering of forms running through the observed realm of the painting. The base plane remains textured and resonates with horizontal waves giving the piece a passive but profound energetic quality.

Greg Bryce is a contemporary Scottish multidisciplinary artist based in Spain. In late 2017, he made a significant decision to abandon his career as a landscape architect and botanical designer, fully embracing his passion for art. The shift led him to relocate from Edinburgh to Brussels, where he wholeheartedly dedicated himself to the exploration of his visual ideas.

Greg's artistic approach is characterized by a unique perspective on the world. His work is a manifestation of his ability to see the world differently, perceiving rhythm and color in everything. Combining his roles as a percussionist and an artist, Greg posits that all sound and space are inherently composed of rhythms. This viewpoint stems from a lifelong fascination with color, particularly bright hues, which manifested early on, as recounted by his family's recollection of his color-organizing antics in a doctor's office at the age of one.

Within his artistic practice, Greg maintains a base playfulness that seeks to order the world and celebrate color, emphasizing a primal creativity inherent in all individuals. Specializing in abstract painting and drawing, along with environmental site/material-specific installations, his work is a vibrant exploration of form and expression.

Greg's artistic journey has been marked by wide recognition, with exhibitions across Europe and residency periods in Brussels, Belgium, Assisi, Italy, and Gothenburg, Sweden. In addition to his artistic pursuits, Greg contributes to the art community as a co-op council member of The Society of Scottish Artists. His work draws inspiration from challenging fundamental principles, delving into aspects such as the human senses, self, space, scales, and, of course, rhythm. Greg Bryce's creations invite viewers to reconsider the world through his distinctive lens, where vibrant colors and rhythmic patterns intertwine to offer a fresh and dynamic perspective on fundamental principles.
