Our senses are essentially delusional. A doorway yes but also a filter. So much chaos surrounds us yet we are able to make sense of it and live effectively. These paintings take this idea as a starting point. The background is usually layered atop an existing art piece or textured object, found or purchased at flea markets or on the street. The palette is generally decided already by what already exists but can be tuned to fit if an idea is in place before work begins. This first applied layer attempts to create a vast chaotic field, representative of the intangible energetic environment we live in. The foreground layers fracture this with lines forming primarily triangles with opaque fields filled in. This speaks of the reality we are aware of- filtered and diluted into something more tangible and readable. The pieces are generally created using Acrylic applied with knives, brushes only being used to finish the top opaque layers. Begun in Brussels in 2018 and continuing currently.

These works on canvas developed from smaller oil and mixed-media pieces on paper, originally begun whilst travelling in 2021. The paintings begin with a figurative underpainting sketched from a specific important memory which is layered up into a finished composition before being annihilated with a final layer of white in either oil, bars or household paint. Attention was paid to hermetic principles at this time.

A varied selection of my ever growing drawing catalogue. The works are typically 20-30 cm, on heavy duty, square format paper. They combine many mediums but I especially love to use very soft oil pastel. These works are unframed but can be framed on request.

This series takes memory as its primary theme. The works are created using a process driven method of layers. Firstly a memory is meditated on, then expressed on to the canvas or paper with special attention paid to colour. The composition is often an amalgamation of snaps or flashes of this moment in the mind connected together to fill the realm. The next step is to accentuate certain areas of importance whilst building a unified weight and texture. Finally the image is largely destroyed using thick layers of white, oil based mediums whilst preserving the form and rhythm beneath. Here the process divides into the polar aspects of my creative energy. What Hermeticism would call the principles of gender. The background representing a more feminine, careful and thoughtful energy, with the foreground expressing the more spontaneous and destructive masculine. I see myself and all personalities as a combination of these two forces. What results in the work is a vision of a memory clouded by time (the white layer); created through a very personal expression of self in the now.
