This painting is a personal illustration of Ernest Hemingway's short story "The Old Man and the Sea", written in Cuba in 1951. Hemingway received the Pulitzer Prize and the Prize for this work in 1953-1954. Nobel Prize for Literature. After 84 days without result, the fierce and ultimately fruitless fight of the old fisherman with the marlin, then against the sharks that devour his catch, however, gives him back his honor, his pride and the esteem of other fishermen and of the young boy who usually accompanies.
