"Breakfast at Tiffany's" is a novel by Truman Capote, published in 1958. It was made a film by Blake Edwards in 1961 under the title, for France of "Diamants on the sofa" with, in the role of Holly Golightly, Audrey Hepburn. In fact Truman Capote had very strongly considered entrusting the role to Marilyn Monroe but it seems that her friends dissuaded her from playing this role, so as not to tarnish her image in the rather puritanical America of the time ( at least apparently and in visible external behavior!) Miss Golighly is a very independent young woman who loves freedom. She could have been likened to a geisha. She dreams of giving meaning to her life, maybe to escape the one she is living, possibly to marry a rich man. She ends up being compromised by the visits she makes to a drug mafia in prison ... The personal illustration of the novel represents Miss Golightly with the famous "little black dress" wandering through New York, Tiffany's window in front which she often strolls, her birdcage whose door is always open and a symbol of freedom, her cat who has no name because for her to give him one would be a symbol of belonging. Also features the bar of Joe Bell, co-narrator in the novel with one of his neighbors. The text of the painting, very tasty, on the glass of Tiffany's, is the one said by Miss Golightly when she frees the cat in the streets of New York which will however be recovered by the narrator. The second text is by Truman Capote, reflects in him the awareness he has of his quality of writing. It is exceptional and allowed him to make the murder of a family, described simply and in a linear and detailed way in a novel of 400 pages, "Cold blood", which one reads greedily like the current great thrillers complex by their plot. As for her, she leaves for Brazil or perhaps her journey will later take her to Africa because the narrators believe they recognize her in an African statuette. To note in the film the song "Moon River" interpreted by Audrey Hepburn, and taken again in particular by Marilyn Monroe.
