What do Art Toys mean?
So, this is a good time to explain what Art Toys are. Art Toys are collectible and designed "toys" made by artists, designers, and illustrators who were inspired by the first piece in the genre, the Qee series, which was made by Raymond Choy in 1995. Since then, the Art Toy phenomenon has been getting more and more popular. Street, Pop, and Urban culture have also helped bring it to the forefront. Within these cultures, international artists like Takashi Murakami, Ron English, Fran Kozik, Jeff Koons, etc. have wanted to confront and challenge each other by re-creating the characteristics of the most famous cartoons, which are full of different and original messages. Modern Artmajeur artists like Marine Foissey, Vincent Sabatier, and Maria Kovalenko have reinterpreted Barbie, Lego, and Bearbrick in ways that are similar.
