This series of artworks presents a separate mythologized world of each of our senses (sight, taste, hearing, smell, feeling). Nowadays we live in a world of heightened emotions. Every day advertising tries to hook us, social media wants to enslave us, the news shocks us. Every night we go to bed tired from the excess of emotions and feel nothing. And each new day we spend in this state of oscillation between emotional peak and complete unfeeling.
This series of works is my reflection, my attempt to bring my sensitivity back to normal. I create a fantastic living world with hybrid forms of each sense organ, as if it were part of the surreal flora and fauna of the planet of my inner world.

Every person learns something, sets goals and moves forward in life. Emigration is a special experience. [...]
Every person learns something, sets goals and moves forward in life. Emigration is a special experience. In emigration a person loses everything old (language, culture, native faces, habitual mentality, known rules of behavior and laws, way of life and many other things) and gets instead of all this everything new. At such times, one has to master several skills at once. Every simple everyday action turns out to be a complex task. These trials of the new world are perceived differently by a person in different periods.
Sometimes you feel complete antagonism towards the new place, at other times you are happy and delighted by the changes in it, sometimes you go through a phase of retrospection and reflection on your past life or maybe experience nostalgia. In the series I explore these processes through art in different techniques and media.

This series of writings is about our boundaries. What do we allow ourselves to do? What do we allow others to do to us? What are our personal boundaries?
In particular I want to talk here about the retrospective of women's boundaries. In our still very patriarchal world, being a woman is harder and more dangerous. Yes the status of women has gotten better, but we can't talk about equality. The statistics of women in leadership positions and women suffering from violence contradict this. We still accept the roles we are allowed to play. If a woman finds herself more muscular and her identity doesn't match the imposed norm, then that behavior is considered deviant and unacceptable.
Only the emasculated image of a beautiful woman who is also a mother, a worker and a housekeeper is not antagonized by the world. Any other options are condemned. It is too many roles for one person. Mandatory family care prevents women from building a career. And modern beauty standards force women to undergo dangerous surgeries. The bottom line is that women aren't running forward to progress, they're running in circles and at each circle they have to manage to do more and more.

This series of works consists of female images in impressionist style. The faces of the women in the paintings are hidden. We do not know if they are beautiful. We are imagining the image. The series of works "Familiar Stranger" consists of contradictions and oscillation.
It contrasts the real with the fictitious, the imaginary with the real, black with white, the cold street and the warm house, the plasticity of the female body and the geometry behind her, color and monochrome.

The "Time" series of works includes my reflections and retrospective on time. What is time in the local and total sense? How much time do we have? How do we live in the present moment? Why do we put life on hold? How does time flow when we are waiting for something? At different ages and in different situations, we perceive time differently. Our relationship with time is permanently oscillating. Sometimes we greatly value and treasure our time, and other times we waste it on nonsense. In this series, many of the works include a real clock with a running mechanism.
This series of works will be developed further. I am interested in examining the phenomenon of time from a scientific and philosophical perspective.

This project of surreal portraits is made by means of digital graphics and painting based on my original physical painting "Our All-Seeing World". In these works we see images of people that are assembled into a single gestalt of different other people's eyes (views, opinions). In today's world, we are constantly in and exposed to other people's gaze. In many of us it causes a reference to the state of obsession and we want to seem better than we are, live a "beautiful" life that others like but do not satisfy us. But despite the increasing intervention from outside we feel more and more lonely, lost and insignificant in this changing world.

Modern life is filled with information and advertising, oscillations of norms and pulsating bright colors. I believe that young people are not interested in art because they do not associate themselves with it. That said, they need art to develop emotional intelligence. This series of paintings was born as an idea to build a bridge between the media environment and art to engage their interest in art. I abolished meanings and put emphasis on color and beauty. Different colored strokes of paint form portraits of the people in these paintings, like colored pieces of glass in a kaleidoscope form different pictures. The life events, experiences, and appearances of each of us also create a portrait of a person. It shows that we are all different, unique and beautiful.

This is the digital version of the "Colorful Personas" series of works. Here the meaning of this series is used in combination with digital painting techniques and more expression. This series of paintings was born as an idea to build a bridge between the media environment with its bright colors and the standards of art, to engage more interest in art. These postcards were created for a charity project from "Fresh Paint", the largest annual art fair in Israel. The goal of the project is to sell the artists' work and help financially young talented students who want to devote themselves to art, but can't pay their tuition themselves. It is a mini series of surrealistic images on the enigmatic theme of feeling Time. If you think about it, it looks simply mystical: the same seconds, minutes, hours change their size in our brains depending on what we are doing at that time. There are 4 states of time depicted within the project: waiting time, planning time, action time, and resting time. With bright psychedelic colors I wanted to draw more attention to these everyday states.

Biography
Leah Larisa Bunshaft @Dizlarka was born in Ukraine, spent her youth in Russia. Later she emigrated to Israel and currently works in Barcelona (Spain).
She holds an MA from the Arts and Construction Department in The Novgorod State University. Leah`s post-graduate studies include advanced courses in graphic design, photography, art history, psychology and creativity, artistic strategizing programs.
Trauma received in childhood, youth in the 90's in Russia and changes of countries influenced the choice of themes of the artist. A key theme in Leah's artworks is the vulnerability of the fragile human being in this insecure world. She explores her own vulnerability in the ever-changing conditions of contemporary reality, issues of femininity, women's life, feminism and self-identity. She is also fascinated by the theme of time, the cycles of life and death, change in the process of time, and the complex relationship between humans and time.
Her work begins with the idea she wants to figuratively convey to the viewer and the feelings she wants to evoke by doing so. From this she chooses one of the many mediums she works with: painting, drawing, collage, sculpture, digital art, embroidery, monotype, graphics, hand prints and mixed media techniques.
Leah participated in solo and group exhibitions. Her artworks are included in private collections in the USA, Canada, Russia, Israel, Spain, Japan, Germany, Denmark.

I am currently working on my big project called "Fragile Beginnings", the project was started in October 2024 and will be completed in February 2025. The series of artworks about the feelings, fears and hopes associated with making a baby and the first few months of life with a baby.
***This project is a work in progress. There will be 41 artworks in total. I plan to finish all pieces of the project in February 2025. I will post it here.
