Cristina Jimenez Rey was born in Spain in 1985 and works as a visual artist and art director. At the age of 11, she was introduced to art through drawing, which she later studied at the San Eloy school. She obtained her mother's old Yashica electro 35 mm camera as a teenager. She then began photographing her family and friends.
Cristina won her first photography contest in 2005 and was awarded a scholarship to attend a Master's program in Granada a few years later. This is the beginning of the young Spanish artist's successful and promising career.
Her work is characterized by the interplay of light and shadow, as well as the unexpected use of warm tones in disturbing scenes. Cristina is constantly on the lookout for the perfect balance of the elements. While Cristina's current work is primarily focused on photography, she is interested in all forms of art.
With an obvious affinity for cinema, she draws inspiration from a variety of sources, including "cinema, music, skateboarding, and surfing inspire me like visual poetry," as well as artists ranging from Theo Gosselin to Damien Hirst.
