Yuxiang Liu est une jeune artiste chinoise spécialisée dans la peinture à l'encre sur papier ou papier de riz. Dans sa peinture l'art du détaille est le maître mot avec comme priorité le style Gong Bi.
L'expression « gong bi » évoque l’idée d’ « écrire avec minutie ». Cette technique, qui recherche finesse et précision des détails, demande beaucoup de concentration et de patience.
Le style « gong bi » est apparu il y a 2000 ans sous la dynastie Han (206 av. JC-220 ap. JC), une
période de stabilité et de prospérité favorable au développement des arts.
Ce style trouva son apogée sous la dynastie Tang, puis sous celle des Song (618 AD-1279 AD).
Cette peinture, dite peinture de cour, fit l’objet d’un véritable engouement de la part de la famille impériale qui se
constitua à l’époque d’impressionnantes collections d’œuvres de peintres célèbres.
