Born in the Crimea, Ukraine. In 1986 he graduated from the Krasnodar Art School, Faculty of Painting; in 1992 the Kyiv Art Institute (National Academy ofVisual Arts and Architecture). Member of the art group "Paris Commune" (1990 - 1994). In 1991, the first "maps" appeared - paintings written on maps. Subsequently, the first solo exhibition took place in Moscow. In the same year the first trip abroad took place. Since 1993 creative trips and participation in exhibitions in Poland, Slovakia, Macedonia, Austria, Hungary, USA. In 2001, the "First Ukrainian Project" at the Venice Biennale. 

Lives and works in Kyiv.The theme of geopolitics is the leitmotif of all the work of Yuriy Solomko. Invented by him, the author's artistic language expresses a reflection on geopolitical events taking place in the world, as well as reveals various deep meanings. Solomko claims that the geographical map is one of the strongest symbols created by civilization. To the information contained in this document, he inscribes his vision of life.
