Открылся ему мир как огромный и страшный и стал он «верить в Бога» - заклинать некоего верховного владыку этого мира, чтобы был к нему этот мир благосклонным. Т.е. не различал он Бога и дьявола, а т.к. в мире дьявола больше, чем Бога, то получился черно-белый контраст намерений и дел; душу, благое сделать намеревающуюся, спасал, но всё вокруг уже горело, слова ветшали, он пытался запомнить хотя бы имена людей, которых знал и названия мест, в которых побывал, но всё было ненужно, он сам был не нужен, как иллюзия, заношенная до дыр…
The world opened up to him as huge and terrible, and he began to “believe in God” - to conjure some supreme ruler of this world, so that this world would be favorable to him. That is he did not distinguish between God and the devil, but because... in the world there is more devil than God, then the result is a black and white contrast of intentions and deeds; he saved a soul who intended to do a good deed, but everything around him was already burning, the words were decaying, he tried to remember at least the names of the people he knew and the names of the places he had visited, but everything was unnecessary, he himself was not needed, like an illusion, worn out to holes...
I don't like exhibitions - they are too soulless, formal and hypocritical, and require worries and troubles.
