I am inspired by the Ukrainian cultural heritage, and I often reflect this in my work. In Ukrainian culture, storks are often depicted as large, graceful birds that bring people happiness.
The picture is painted with acrylic paints on canvas. If you apply an oil pastel to canvas, you get the effect like embroidery on fabric. It is one of the key elements of Ukrainian culture.
To protect the painting from damage, I applied a water-soluble varnish. The final coat of varnish gives the picture a finishing touch and a noble shine.
I refer to my technique as multi-layer. I apply layers of paint one by one and try to always leave room for air.
The painting has to breathe.

In my work I explore how our cultural heritage is being transformed by current trends in human development. My main question is: Is there a place for ethnicity in our "virtual" reality?
In my reality there is.
I believe that it is impossible to comprehend the essence of art, rather the opposite: art helps us understand what we like and what we don’t like, how we feel and who we are in general.
In my work I reinterpret my own memories and experiences. My paintings feature themes that have shaped me and my taste since my early years. I adore Ukrainian cultural heritage and am willing to delve into it endlessly. I convey the peculiarities of the Ukrainian cultural code through the artistic depiction of Ukrainian folk songs, traditions, family ties and values.
When I paint a picture, I rarely plan what the result will be. Initially I only have a canvas with paints and an idea. If my original idea wants to transform into something else, I will let that happen.
