The picture is taken 7.10.2021 in Aavasaksa by canon.

Aavasaksa is a sharp-edged hill in Ylitornio municipality in Finnish Lapland. It has an elevation of 242 meters (794 ft). Aavasaksa is famous for its sights both towards Finland and Sweden, and it is included in the list of the National landscapes of Finland.[1][2] Decorative hunting cabin "Imperial Lodge" (Keisarinmaja) is one of the buildings on top of the hill. Its construction began with a visit by Alexander II of Russia in mind, but due to political instability, it never happened. It's only open in the summer.[3]

Due to Aavasaksa's distinctive elevation above other nearby hills, it was first used by Pierre Louis Maupertuis in the French Geodesic Mission (1736–1737), and later became part of the Struve Geodetic Arc. As a result of this, UNESCO named Aavasaksa a World Heritage Site, along with the 33 other sites used in the Struve Geodetic Arc.

Aavasaksa is often considered the southernmost point in Finland where the midnight sun is literally visible. The hill is surrounded by rivers running next to it: the Torne River to the west and the smaller Tengeliö river [fi] to the east and north.

Welcome to my gallery at linktr.ee/veerazukova!

I'm Veera Zukova, a passionate artist based in Ylitornio, Finland. My artistic journey began at a tender age—immersed in my grandfather's stamp collection, I discovered a world of renowned paintings, sparking an enduring love for art that continues to shape my life.

My artistic exploration led me to art school at the age of 15, where I delved into various techniques, winning accolades in France, Poland, and locally. Graphic design and surreal gouache paintings became my forte, alongside numerous solo exhibitions. After graduating from Ahtme Art School in Kohtla-Järve, Estonia, I embarked on a multifaceted creative path.

Beyond art, I indulged my passion for music, studying it for 12 years alongside formal education. Although my design studies in Finland proved unsatisfactory, I further honed my craft by studying painting in construction in Sweden and mastering diverse materials and color palettes.

My creative pursuits expanded to handicraft courses in Suomussalmi, exploring clay, porcelain, jewelry making, graphic arts, and more. I revel in psychedelic art, finding inspiration in its vibrancy and freedom, making it my preferred style.

I reside in Finland with my husband, cherishing the opportunity to curate exhibitions that showcase my vibrant works. I primarily work with acrylics, gouache, watercolors, and markers, infusing my pieces with the essence of expressionism. This style captivates me deeply, reminiscent of the vibrant brilliance of Claude Monet, whose art profoundly impacts my own.

For me, painting is an act of inspiration—an outpouring of emotions that necessitates the perfect moment. I immerse myself in a trance-like state, driven by music, allowing creativity to flow effortlessly. Though inspiration ebbs and flows, painting remains an intrinsic part of my life—I always keep my colors at hand, ready for that spark of creativity that can strike unexpectedly.

The sensation of creating, of pouring my soul into art, is beyond words. It's a feeling that transcends, elevating me to a realm of boundless expression—a feeling I believe anyone can relate to when they're deeply passionate about something they love.
