I saw the Red Harbor several times and on different shores, but always at sunset. This very bright and joyful vision always appeared before me and immediately disappeared, leaving the sweetest aftertaste of mystery and hope. Red Harbor is the dull noise of the unfulfilled, thickened on the horizon into an openwork unearthly building.

Every time I met Red Harbor again, my life changed dramatically for the better. Red Harbor is a kind of gateway to a new, unknown life.

Vadim Kalinin was born in Moscow, Russia in 1973. In Russia, he is also known as a poet and writer.

Eight years ago, Vadim became a digital nomad. Together with his family, he roams in the tropical regions of the planet. Primarily in Southeast Asia. The artist's base nest is located in the city of Hua Hin in Thailand.

Vadim believes that his work is based on three powerful pillars. On the exploratory exoticism of Paul Gauguin, the surreal romanticism of Odilon Redon, and on the specific techniques of working with color and composition of the Caucasus artists.

Vadim makes many tropical landscapes painted from life. He sincerely and deeply loves the tropics and its specific plastic structure. However, Vadim considers the magic-realistic branch of his work to be the most important for himself.

Vadim is in a sense a visionary. Until the age of forty, he periodically saw persistent "dreams in reality", merely dreams or hallucinations. It was caused by a brain disease. Now the disease has been eliminated by surgery. The hallucinations disappeared. But memories of them are preserved, which, in a strange way, are becoming clearer and clearer.

Vadim draws a lot and with pleasure other epochs and worlds in which he “visited”. Strange creatures that I "saw", bizarre gods and animals that I "encountered".

With all this, Vadim is an atheist and a persistent supporter of the scientific worldview. He treats his translocation travels with great interests, but also with specific humor.
