Original Artwork refers to any work that is considered authentic and not a copy or imitation of the original works of an artist. Original artwork can be any type of painting, sculpture, performance, or other media. There are many types of original media. Mixed media includes oil, acrylic, and watercolor paintings. For workshop paintings that bear evidence of master craftsmanship, this attribution must be further qualified. While they may be less valuable for different reasons, reproductions and copies have had a tremendous impact on our experience. They reach a greater audience than originals and act as a tonic against commodification. Original Artwork could also refer to the first work, which is always preceding all others. It could also refer to a prototype or a model from which other works can be made. Each work bears great similarities to the original.

Post Neo Futurism. A collaboration between myself and Sheffield Artist Jim Ritchie. This happened as a direct result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

In his words: "So what we've done is choose an image that the other has already done, then we alter said image in any way we want to. This was the outcome of what I created from one of Tina's photos that she took while in Japan. The buildings may look like they've been done with a pencil but they're not. I converted each piece into black 'n' white and then just played around with the brightness/contrast plus the opacity".

I handed over 'Memories of Normality' Jim himself had shown a preference for it, I said pick one. I had washed out all the background colour meaning the tree now took on the shape of an atomic explosion. None of us were aware at that time how fast a novel virus would hit us and spread throughout the world making normal the abnormal as we sit locked in our homes.

Personally I love how Jim has placed the yellowish pollution haze, something that is absent in idealistic Neofuturist architecture, the now has happened. Never before has our life been so precarious world wide.

Tina Lane

Tina Lane is a British visual artist who works with installation, sculpture, photography, media, and performance in her interdisciplinary art practice. His projects evolve in response to the needs of the site,[...]

At the moment, her work is focused on human relationships, identity, memory, and mortality. She strives to address, rather than resolve, the uncertainty of fitting into established systems and patterns of thought through her art. It's satiating a basic want to communicate non-verbally and visually by making the art as inclusive and engaging as possible, without regard for language. Visualizing inarticulate brains functioning via material and performative processes demonstrates this investigation of the 'gut feeling' or 'instinct,' and enables creative mobility.

Tina Lane received a BA (Hons) First in Fine Art from Southampton Solent University, where she was awarded the CVAN SE Platform Graduate Award by Aspex Gallery and Solent Showcase Gallery for Best of Degree Shows in 2015. Following that, she took residencies in India and Japan. In 2018, she earned a Distinction in her MA in Fine Art from Winchester School of Art.
