Thomas Wagner is a contemporary German artist known for his mastery of watercolor painting, a passion that has evolved over many years of dedicated practice. From his early days as a student, Wagner embarked on a journey of exploration, immersing himself in various trips to broaden his perspective and deepen his sensitivity to colors. He found inspiration in the works of artists from the turn of the century and the Art Nouveau movement, which left an indelible mark on his artistic sensibilities.

Wagner's travels have taken him to diverse locales such as the south of France, Greece, Portugal, Italy, Australia, and South Africa, beginning in 1997. These experiences have profoundly influenced the subject matter and coloring of his paintings, with landscape emerging as a recurring theme. Initially, Wagner captured landscapes through photography as mementos of his travels, but these images soon became wellsprings of inspiration for his art.

Developing a distinctive watercolor technique, Wagner applies paints to dry paper, resulting in a brilliant color effect that sets his work apart. Embracing abstraction, he delves deeper into his artistic exploration as a self-employed artist. While he exhibits a preference for graphics in his preparatory work, Wagner seamlessly translates his preliminary drawings into vibrant watercolor compositions.

In addition to watercolor, Wagner has begun to explore oil painting, further expanding his artistic repertoire. His oil and watercolor paintings grace private collections in countries spanning Chile, Australia, Greece, South Africa, Austria, Spain, and, notably, his homeland of Germany.
