Tashfeen Rizwan
Born in Larkana,1977 which is just 25 km from Mohenjo-Daro Indus valley civilization. I come from an artistic family—my father is a painter, an educationist, and a progressive thinker. He loves me a lot as I'm his only son with two daughters. I'm the eldest among us all. I was a shy child, often taunted and bullied for being very slim and wearing glasses at a very early age. This affected my confidence, but I fought internally and participated in sports activities. As I grew up, I opened a badminton club named Winner Club and organized district-level competitions. Besides that, I completed my studies. I wasn't good academically and disliked the conservative limitations imposed on me, as they created a burden and pressure. joined a bank in home finance, having completed a master's in economics.
I enjoyed meeting different people and having lovely conversations.
I wanted to work in the art world but never thought of becoming a visual artist. My father had established an art gallery named Mother Gallery 1999, and I had a strong interest in arranging seminars, displaying artwork, dealing with the press, and participating in art discussions. Eventually, I decided to quit my job and dedicate myself full-time to art as a curator. I was associated with Mother Gallery for 16 years before moving to Karachi, where there were more opportunities, but I couldn't connect with any.
Time passed, and during the COVID-19 lockdown, I questioned my identity and what legacy I would leave behind. In July 2021, I bought some oil pastels and a book to start painting. By doing art, I became free from all pressures and realized this was my passion. Since then, I have worked daily for 2 to 3 hours, reading about art, posting on social media, and becoming a professional artist. Recently, in July 2024, I was invited as a guest artist on a TV program and received my first recognition.
People often ask how I portray such intense expressions in my portraits. I always say that when I start painting, I have no idea—just lines that form a visual, and then I follow the rhythm until the painting is completed. My sources of inspiration are human psychology, suffering, and the oppressed class. While I am a happy man, when I see people suffering, I feel a strong desire to correct these injustices. I know we don’t have an Aladdin's lamp to solve all problems instantly, but through my art, I hope to make a difference.

Veiled Sentiments: Behind the Mask
The painting is a visual metaphor for the human condition, capturing the poignant dichotomy between external perception and internal reality. The girl’s gesture of shielding her face is a silent plea for solace, a sanctuary for her unspoken thoughts.
Artistic Alchemy: The Fusion of Heart and Craft in Contemporary Art
The artist's journey is a tapestry woven from threads of raw emotion and refined technique. The canvas of modern artistry is vast, and within it, two archetypes emerge: the "Soulful Creator" and the Skilled Artisan.
The Soulful Creator is a vessel of pure expression, channeling visceral emotions into their creations.
They are the spiritual successors to the likes of van Gogh, whose works, though bereft of commercial triumph in his era, now epitomize emotional profundity. Yet, such creators often tread a path strewn with the thorns of obscurity, their fervor for art eclipsing the pursuit of market validation.
Conversely, the Skilled Artisan is the embodiment of technical prowess, their artistry a calculated response to market currents.
These artists navigate the art world with the precision of a cartographer, their creations mirroring the zeitgeist, thus garnering immediate acclaim and material reward.
The quintessence of success in the digital epoch, however, lies in the symbiotic fusion of heartfelt authenticity and technical mastery.
The Modern Artist must balance the scales, marrying the integrity of emotional artistry with the acumen of market strategy.
1. Emotional Authenticity: The Modern Artist must remain steadfast in their passion, for it is the authentic pulse of their work that will resonate with the connoisseurs of art.
2. Technical Mastery: The relentless pursuit of artistic excellence is paramount, as it is the caliber of one's craft that captivates and retains the gaze of the audience.
3. Digital Presence: In the digital agora, an artist's virtual footprint is as significant as their physical one. A robust online presence can bridge the chasm between obscurity and renown.
4. Art Sales and Marketing: The art of commerce is not lost on the Modern Artist, for understanding the business of art can mean the difference between a masterpiece unseen and a legacy unfurled.
5. Community Engagement: The Modern Artist thrives in communion with their peers, for it is through collaboration and exhibition that art finds new horizons.
In conclusion, the artist of today must be both a conduit of emotion and a connoisseur of technique, navigating the delicate interplay between creation for the soul and creation for the society. It is in this harmony that art finds its truest expression and its most enduring legacy.

How does the creative process connect us with primal forces in nature?

Hunchback of Notre-Dame
Theme of the painting "Hunchback of Notre-Dame".oil pastels on paper 42x30 cm Artwork, written criticism notes by Tashfeen Rizwan
Victor Hugo's masterpiece, The Hunchback of Notre-Dame, delves into the depths of human emotion and the intricacies of societal power dynamics. Through the character of Quasimodo, Hugo portrays the tragic reality of physical deformities and the ostracization that often accompanies them. Quasimodo's unwavering loyalty and devotion to Esmeralda serve as a poignant reminder of the power of love and compassion to transcend social barriers.Esmeralda, too, represents the struggles of those who are marginalized and discriminated against because of their ethnicity. Her unjust persecution at the hands of the authorities highlights the destructive consequences of societal prejudice and the devastating impact it can have on individuals. At its core, The Hunchback of Notre-Dame is a powerful commentary on the human condition and the innate desire for connection and belonging. It explores the ways in which societal structures can both facilitate and impede our ability to forge meaningful connections with others, and the profound impact that these connections can have on our lives.Through its richly drawn characters and evocative setting, The Hunchback of Notre-Dame offers a masterful exploration of the complex forces that shape our lives, and the enduring power of hope, love, and compassion to overcome even the most entrenched social barriers.
Indomitable Inner Strength
In the tumultuous tide of existence, we are imbued with an unyielding fortitude that knows no bounds. Our innermost essence, like a flame that never wavers, ignites the path ahead, guiding us through the darkest of nights. Despite the trials and tribulations that beset us, we stand resolute, our spirits unbroken.Like a phoenix rising from the ashes, we soar above the fray, our wings spread wide with a fierce determination that defies all odds. In the face of adversity, we summon the depths of our courage, unafraid to stare down our fears and confront the unknown. With each step we take, we are emboldened by the force of our own spirit, our hearts beating with a steady rhythm that echoes throughout the cosmos. And though the road ahead may be arduous, our resilience and perseverance ensure that we will never falter or fail. For within us lies a boundless wellspring of strength, a radiant light that shines forth even in the darkest of times. And through the sheer power of our own will, we conquer all, triumphing over the trials of life and discovering the true essence of happiness.
Inner strength conquers pressure
Life can often feel like a constant balancing act, with an overwhelming weight of pressure and responsibilities constantly bearing down on us. It's easy to get lost in the day-to-day struggles, feeling as though we're barely keeping our heads above water. But there's a powerful truth that lies beneath the surface of our struggles: we have the ability to overcome them. Despite the weight we carry, we have the strength to push forward and persevere. There's a fierce determination that lives within us, a fire that burns bright even in the darkest moments. It's what propels us forward, urging us to rise to the challenges that life throws our way.And when we tap into that determination, when we harness the power of our own inner strength, something incredible happens. The pressure and responsibilities may still be there, but they no longer hold us down. We rise above them, transcending our circumstances and finding happiness in the midst of the struggle. It's not always easy, and there will be times when we stumble and fall. But if we keep that determination burning bright within us, if we never lose sight of our own strength and resilience, then happiness is not just a possibility - it's a certainty.
Mysterious expressions by Tashfeen.Rizwan
The painting described is a remarkable work of art that captivates the viewer with its striking design and enigmatic emotion. The distorted facial expression at the center of the canvas is particularly striking, as it manages to convey a depth of feeling that is both haunting and beautiful.
The use of color in the painting is bold and vibrant, with shades of green, yellow, and red intermingling to create a sense of energy and movement. The long vertical strokes and antique texture add a touch of intrigue to the piece, suggesting an underlying tension that is both compelling and mysterious.
From a critical perspective, the composition of the artwork is particularly noteworthy. The artist has managed to achieve a balance and harmony in the design that is difficult to achieve, drawing the viewer's eye into the scene and allowing them to explore the hidden mysteries that lie within.
One possible critique of the painting is that its enigmatic emotion may be difficult for some viewers to fully grasp or connect with. Additionally, the distorted facial features may not be to everyone's taste or preference.
Overall, however, this painting is a remarkable work of art that showcases the artist's skill and creativity. Its striking design and captivating mysteries are sure to inspire wonder and awe in all who have the privilege of viewing it.

Free from Fear
My art is a profound embodiment of the myriad emotions and experiences that have punctuated my sojourn through this world. With each stroke of my brush, I seek to capture the quintessential rawness and intensity of the human condition - the sublime beauty, the harrowing pain, the interminable struggles, and the glorious.
