Riuscii a fuggire; mi avevano colpito solo tre pallottole di neanche grosso calibro. Mi infilai
in una fogna e vi rimasi tutta la notte ed il giorno successivo. Avevano smesso di cercarmi
illudendosi che ferito fossi affondato nella sottostante roggia. La notte uscii dalla fogna
raggiungendo il terminale di una garitta abandonata. Mi collegai al cavo dati ottenendo a
richiesta le planimetrie della mente e precisamente la rete elettrica. Il cavo della alta
tensione in un unico punto, per circa 4 metri, attraversava un corridoio ad una profondità di
circa mezzo metro. Era l'unico punto debole per cui, essendomi nota la dislocazione dei
servizi, mi recai all’armeria dove prelevai una carica cubica di dieci chili di tritolo. Con
quella carica avrei tagliato il cavo rendendo impossibile la riparazione in breve termine. Mi
dotai anche di una decina di cariche di tritolo da un etto per il gruppo di continuità e di due
detonatori a tele comando; Il resto fu facile: l'esplosione causò la fine del sistema
principale.
Nessuno Sapeva che tale missione era per me un fatto personale; ad essa non avrei mai
rinunciato anche se mi avessero urlato del fesso e non solo pensato. La missione mi
permetteva la vendetta per la morte di mia moglie e di mio figlio, uccisi da un
bombardamento ordinato dalla mente. Di loro conservo nell’archivio la fotografia: mia
moglie, bellissima, una dei pochi robot dai fianchi di ottone. Di nostro figlio dicevano fosse
umano, ma io non ci credo perché era troppo bello per esserlo. Io forse li amavo soltanto
da robot, ma erano tutto per me.
