Steve Piscione

Like most artists Steven Piscione has been creating since he was very young. It has even been said he failed one of his early school exams by drawing over the entire page! Though having worked in various media, ranging from conte crayon and pastel to bronze and plaster casting, his true passion has been for the airbrush.

First learning how to use an airbrush at the age of 15. Thanks to an enthusiastic and encouraging high school instructor. As he progressed he discovered the works of other airbrush artists. Being drawn to the works of H.R. Giger, Olivia, and Soroyama. Unlike many artists he tends to stay away from the normal role of the airbrush as a tool for achieving photo-realism. Instead, using it as a tool of limitless self-expression.

Of the other media he has worked in over the years, he is quite fond of pen and ink and water color. Working at one time with Scarecrow Comics based in Indiana.

Through my experience I have seen all different types of art, and with them all a different philosophy behind them. I have come to learn that there is an immense difference between "art" and a "pretty picture". And although some artists try to attach speciific meanings to their works (including myself in some cases), to mean it all comes down to one thing, a reaction. Does this painting, sculture, audio recording, or any other artwork make the viewer react. It could be love, happiness, or even plain disgust. If you react to my work my job is finished. I do not want to make you feel something specific, just feel.
