Cross-Cultural Couples is a series of photographic portraits of couples who originally come from different countries. The project is designed to produce a body of work that documents how different couples mix their cultures in their everyday lives.
I photograph the couples in their own homes because the atmosphere and décor indicate the blending of two cultures. Some couples have children who are also representative of this hybridity.
For these photographs, I am using large format cameras (8 X 10 and 4 X 5). My choice of these older cameras is motivated by the project itself. The family, which used to be the basis of society, has encountered many problems – divorce, lack of commitment – and cross-cultural couples face even more problems – difficulty communicating across their languages and their cultures. I use these older formats to remind us of more traditional ways of viewing the family. In addition, I can print the photographs at human scale, so that the viewer feels he can enter the lives of these cross-cultural couples.
By the way I will stay in touch with these couples and 10-15 years later I will take photos of them again. There will be have a lot of changes in their lives. Some of them may have children or have divorced, only time will show.

(Until now I already took 19 couples photos that I was use large format, but I just scan 4 of them ,maybe you could see example of them on:Cross-Cultural Couples (digital photos), sorry about it.)
