Shannon Dada is a modern digital artist whose vibrant and dynamic artworks celebrate the vast identities of African women through the lens of pop art.
Born and raised in a culturally rich community, Shannon Dada developed a deep appreciation for African art and heritage from an early age. Animated by dark and deep skin tones and saddened by the rarity of those subjects in art, she focuses on portraits. Influenced by the iconic pop art movement of the 20th century, she found inspiration in the bold colors, high contrast, geometric organization and visual storytelling that characterizes the genre.
Influenced by the works of artists like Andy Warhol and Romare Bearden, Shannon infuses her pieces with a contemporary flair that celebrates the emotional and personal journeys of women all over the African diaspora.
