Turn on the television, read the magazines, and you will be bombarded with "scientific information" regarding the similarities between apes (i.e. monkeys, baboons, etc.) and human beings. Many scientists have, in fact, devoted decades of their lives to studying the behavior of these animals, all with the idea that these are indeed grandma and grandpa. Scientists believe that the thoughts, behaviours, and communications of these animals are not all that far from our own.
As Steve Jones Scientist, Evolutionist has said "We also share about 50% of our DNA with bananas and that doesn't make us half bananas, either from the waist up or the waist down."
Why did I end up with a monkey as the main character? Simply because it was easy to make him dance with his funny legs and show off in a fun-filled and colourful atmosphere. It is a common sight in India we have road-side shows where monkeys are made to dance and do all sorts of tricks. But here I have reversed the roles and have showed a man dancing to a monkey’s tunes. In today’s world, man monkeys around a lot in every sphere of life!
I have even coined a limerick for the painting. It goes thus:
“Joey was a chunky old monkey,
Who lived in India with a Junky.
In the town that they shared.
Wherever they went everyone stared
For they looked extremely funky.”

Developing ideas and not just considering the medium as the ideas are expressed are the keys to my paintings.

I create images that I find pleasing and convey the idea behind the title phrase. I provide an environment for thought - a playground for the mind.

I invite the viewer to interact with the images and develop his or her own meanings from them. My advice to you when viewing my work is as follows?

Use your imagination!

Have fun!
