Naïde I (2019) Sculpture by Sel Sculpture

Sculptor from the South of France. His work seeks movement and lightness in a material that is paradoxically fixed and heavy. Emotion and introspection are also recurring themes. The gaze, a mysterious window, is often at the center of his works. She works exclusively with clay (black sandstone). He sometimes associates metal (for example aluminum mesh for the tutu of "the dancer", chicken wire for the face of "the escape", jewels from the Jewels series ). The finish of the stoneware can take on different aspects depending on the smoothing, the level of firing and/or the patina (smoking, acrylic, neutral or pigmented wax, etc.).

It initially embraced a career in the health professions. Her artistic sensibility led her to work with clay. She became a pupil of Pierre Pellizon, an atypical sculptor, with an incredible pedagogy. She was able to benefit from his teaching from 2013 to 2020 before his artistic retirement. Some of the works presented on ARTMAJEUR were produced under his direction.

The COVID crisis has led the artist Sel Sculpture to evolve towards an autonomous and professional practice.
