The piece from the artists perspective :
SHE URCHIN is a representation of a female personality type…. She is a beautiful girl who knows she’s beautiful and dangerous because she uses it as a weapon. She is a person who uses sexual allure as a tool. I made this piece because in this day of the me too movement we can not forget that there is is the counter creature. I will agree full hearted that there needs to be a reigning in of the older “ mens club “ type men.. and will address that issue in future work but this piece is about the woman who uses her beauty in a vicious way.. I tried hard to make you not be able to see the spines all through her front when looking straight forward at her. To me the spines around the sides are almost like rays of light, but thats just the deception.. How could they be ? They are black and sharp… but thats part of the deception… they break up the light on the sides to create the perception of rays of light when in actuality they are sharp spines out in in the open, but her beauty distracts you from that…He shiny being , glossy and rich in form, draws you in to where you forget anything other than her… till she gets you close,, and then you become lost in the curves, lost in the deception lost in the being you perceived versus the being that exists. Lost in her tangle, you are in trouble, yet only with time , and looking at her from multiple angles do you realize that the rays of light were never rays of light.. They were the spaces between the spines that you are now so ever so dangerously close to. So very dangerously close to. If you have any hope to survive the SHE URCHIN you must carefully pull yourself away without snagging yourself on her spines..Easley said but very difficult to do.
