" Hidden within the woods " is a steel sculpture created by Scott Wilkes . It was made by welding nearly a thousand small steel rods together and the stained with acid and painted to embellish some of the curves depth. This piece is Scotts first " concept " piece. It stands on a steel plate and balanced to stand tall with grace and not toppled over without undue force. It is the original , not cast, and it will not be cast and no reproductions will ever be made.

To me the artist : this piece is a concept piece where I stepped outside the box and wanted to cross what I can touch with the things I can't .. I sometimes see bodies and faces in so many other things in things like clouds, mountains, trees , or even a pancake cooked just the right way.
What I wanted to achive with this piece was to hide a women's form within the trunk and branches, The right side ( when looking at it ) was to show the curve of the female form. The left branches on the side were to fill out part of the ribcage. The top branches to create the breasts and flow of the body. Once done I splashed it with acid to turn the colors.
