For workshop paintings that bear evidence of master craftsmanship, this attribution must be further qualified. Riccardo Vitiello, a contemporary Italian painter, was born in 1974 in Livorno, Tuscany, Italy. Having previously delved into video art and abstract photography, Vitiello now exclusively dedicates himself to acrylics on canvas or paper.

His creative process often begins with sketches on paper, viewing free drawing as a therapeutic exercise. With no predetermined outcome in mind, he allows his intuition to guide him. As he progresses, recognizable elements emerge, forming a context that propels him forward until the final result crystallizes. Many of these initial sketches evolve into fully realized paintings.

While Vitiello finds solace in the structure of sketches, he also embraces the freedom of painting directly onto canvas. This approach grants him the liberty to experiment with shapes and colors, allowing his creativity to flow until he senses completion.

One of the defining motifs in Vitiello's oeuvre is "Crowding," where real and imagined figures converge and overlap, blurring the boundaries between them. He rejects the notion of singular perspectives, believing them to be limiting. Instead, his compositions reflect a communal viewpoint, capturing the essence of a collective consciousness. Through his distinctive approach, Vitiello invites viewers to explore the interconnectedness of beings and the richness of shared experiences within his art.
