Les Himbas appartiennent à la grande famille du peuple Bantou, ensemble ethnique composé de locuteurs de l’une des quatre cents langues Bantou de l’Afrique. Uniquement présents en Afrique australe, les Himbas sont principalement établis au nord de la Namibie, dans le désert côtier du Kaokoveld, prolongement du désert du Namib. Une petite partie vit également sur la rive angolaise du fleuve Kunene, frontière naturelle, mais invisible aux yeux des Himbas, entre l’Angola et la Namibie. Leur population regroupe environ 13 000 individus, répartit sur 30 000 km2 de territoire.

Régine Peltier is a contemporary French painter and sculptor. From the beginning oil was her favorite medium, and remains so to this day. Her pictorial universe is above all figurative, with, among others, big cats, women, and children from Asia. Peltier loves to create living, colorful and luminous canvases.
Over the years she perfected this practice and her paintings enriched with beautiful depths. Her canvases become more personal, and style that she would qualify as more Art Deco. The use of stencils in some of her paintings bring new effects. In parallel she started figurative contemporary sculpture, with motifs of the earth and her creations.
Régine Peltier was born in 1954, in France.
