Per Nylén is a contemporary Swedish artist based in Alingsås, a small town in the southwest of Sweden. In his fifties, Per is a painter, photographer, and digital artist who enjoys a good cup of espresso and a passion for music. Although he does not try to mimic or imitate others, he admires artists such as Edward Hopper, Piet Mondrian, Marc Chagall, and Paul Klee.

Per is known for his distinctive paintings of houses on clouds, a theme he has explored in numerous variations over the years. Recently, he has shifted focus to more abstract art, incorporating digital tools into his creative process. Additionally, he has been developing his photography skills, particularly in producing 4-color prints from portraits.

Music plays a significant role in Per's life and artistic practice. His studio is a blend of 50% music and 50% silence, with a preference for pop, soul, jazz, and funk, especially from the 70s and 80s. Artists like Steely Dan, Yellowjackets, Chaka Khan, Earth, Wind & Fire, Dirty Loops, Jacob Collier, and Ole Börud are among his favorites.

In the 1980s, Per played in a pop band before shifting his focus to industrial design, which led him to art school. He initially created furniture and lamps before eventually discovering his true passion for art. He also co-founded a firm with his brother that specialized in drumsticks.

Per primarily works in his studio with acrylic colors but enjoys sketching or drawing outside in his backyard during the summer. In the winter, he prefers to make digital art on his iPad, often while relaxing with a cup of espresso.
