La petite fille est debout, s'apprêtant peut-être à aller se baigner. Sa mère, coiffée d'un grand chapeau rond, est assise à même le sable, les bras en appui. La grand-mère coiffée d'un chapeau est assise sur un tabouret de plage, les bras croisés devant elle. A l'extrême droite du tableau, la plus âgée est assise sur une chaise à dossier tressé en plastique. Ses cheveux sont d'un blanc étincelant et elle n'a pas de chapeau. Une canne est appuyée sur la chaise. Devant elles, la mer à l'infini et un ciel légèrement ennuagé.
