A new poser in the classroom. It's the beginning of a new drawing season. As always, after a long summer break, you don't know where to start and whether you'll be able to draw something decent. You want to be lazy and chat with other artists. Nothing, in a couple weeks everything will be on track. Continuing to work in the same style as last year. In order not to spoil a new sheet of paper (usually the first drawings after a break are not very successful), I took a drawing that did not work out in my opinion and drew a new one on top of it. A posing man with clean, classic face and well-developed masculine body. Everything is right and beautiful... but you don't know what to grab onto. Looks good overall, though. Surprisingly so.
This is a one-of-a-kind drawing made by me in tempera, gouache and colored pencils on 300 gsm. cardboard. The drawing was fixed with professional spray varnish for gouache drawings for preservation. The image is signed by hand on the front side. Not framed.

About this artwork: Classification, Techniques & Styles

Gouache

The substances are diluted with water and rendered pasty and opaque by the addition of gum and honey. The colors become opaque and can, therefore, be superimposed, which makes one paint with gouache as with oil. The gouache is recommended by its bright, fresh and delicate tones.

Tempera

Paint based on an emulsion, greasy or lean with a pigment. Traditionally it is a painting using egg yolk, a natural emulsion, or whole egg as a medium to bind pigments.

Figurative

Figurative and colorful painting having taken the liberty of including all forms of art without border of cultural genre and geographic origin, without hierarchy of values between high and subculture.

Technic Drawing

Drawing is a technique of visual representation on a flat support. The term "drawing" designates both the action of drawing, the resulting graphic work, and the shape of any object. It is also a representation on a surface of the shape (and possibly the light and shadow values) of an object or figure, rather than their color. There are a large number of drawing techniques: “Linear drawing” represents objects by their outlines, edges and some characteristic lines; beyond this limit, the drawing develops by representing the volume by shadows, often by means of hatching, incorporates colors, and joins, without clear transition, the painting.

Natalie Levkovska

Lithuania

Natalie Levkovska is an experienced Lithuanian painter and illustrator. In 1995, she obtained a degree in stone, bone and wood processing from a master artist (Abramtsevo College of Applied Arts), and in 1999 she completed a degree in costume design (Vilnius Academy of Arts). She then became a costume designer for the cinema industry, and later a fur designer. In 2006, she decided to change her life: she moved to London to work in a design studio, and started to experiment oil painting.

She creates simple and poetic artworks, mixing surrealism and naive art. Her artistic universe is a kind of magic realism: she likes to show real life objects and try to bring out the magical pulsation of space. The plots of her creations are taken from her life: a birch glade near her house at different times of the year, the portrait of a loved one, her village in the snow...

Natalie Levkovska have organized 19 personal exhibitions, participated in a lot of paintings and drawings events, and her drawings can be found in many private collections.
