This is another fantasy transposition of Manet's 'déjeuner sur l'herbe' into a 'picnic in the jungle'. The three characters of Manet's famous painting find themselves transported from a Parisian ground to the clearing of a flamboyant Indian jungle. Indian nymphs, and wild animals of the jungle seem to enjoy the sight of Manet's three characters in conversation in the centre of the scene. This a fantasy reference to Manet and an expression of love to mysterious, incredible India. The style is spontaneous, wild, caricature like, in a composition close to Manet's work with more exotic colours.
The whole painting can be seen as a gentle caricature. I hope to amuse the viewer.
