Quand, en 1928, le curé Gauthier s'adresse à Guido Nincheri (1885-1973) pour décorer l'église Saint-Léon, il lui confie l'ensemble du projet. Non seulement l'artiste dressera-t-il le plan de la décoration intérieure, mais il réalisera lui-même les fresques, les vitraux et les dessins de tous les autres éléments ornementaux qu'elle comporte. C'est ce qui fera l'originalité de cette église dans l'œuvre de Nincheri, que l'on considère comme le grand chef-d'œuvre de sa vie1 . Pour l'assister dans son travail, Nincheri aura recours à plusieurs confrères d'origine italienne pour réaliser les travaux d'ébénisterie et les sculptures en bois, le maître-autel, la chaire et la balustrade du chœur ainsi que les statues de marbre. L'intérieur de l'église est recouvert de pierres choisies et les bancs sont en noyer du Honduras, alors que le chemin de croix est en bronze coulé dont les moules furent réalisés par un atelier de Florence. Ce chantier, auquel certains de ces artisans consacreront plusieurs années de leur vie, s'étendra de 1928 à 1944 pour le gros œuvre et à 1957 pour la décoration.

I started drawing very young (evening classes at the Beaux-Arts in Aix en Provence and Marseille Luminy, France) then I discovered pastel before developing a few years later my creativity with oil painting (1986). I then opted for acrylic, a medium which is perfect for me. Influenced by Piet Mondrian (1872-1944) whom I have admired for a long time, I love geometric abstraction from which astonishing vibrations emerge. I sometimes mix the figurative with the abstract depending on my emotions at the moment. Portraits also fascinate me, painting a face on canvas is a great satisfaction for me, I get closer to the people I love and admire. Since 2019, I have been painting Byzantine icons at the Atelier d'Arts Anciens Valuarda, Montreal.
Also passionate about art history, I am continuing my studies since 2015 at the university (UQÀM- Montréal), this allows me to better understand the world of the arts by discovering the spiritual, cultural, theoretical, economic and social context of art.
