Related themes
The artists Marcello and Els, also known as artist couple Marcello&Els, have been living and working together since 1990. In the first years, in addition to the art, many t-shirts were printed and billboards were painted by hand in the current studio/gallery. Due to ever-growing fame and popularity, but also due to the rise of digital printing techniques, Marcello and Els quickly decided to concentrate fully on art. The screen printing equipment was sold with a heavy heart in 2001 and the t-shirt shop on Jan Hendrikstraat was sold.
Working on art projects
Marcello and Els came up with various commissioned and self-managed art projects. The Hagelslag was devised, Rembrandt2000 was executed together with Sis Josip, and a work of art was created for the new head office for PVF Achmea. And from 2001 onwards, all ADO Den Haag players have been immortalized in pen and pencil.
Portraits and illustrations
In recent years the focus has mainly been on portrait assignments and illustrations. Live drawing during sessions and meetings has become a specialty of Marcello, these live drawing sessions are usually led by Eelco Koolhaas from the Ministry of Stories.
In private life but also in art, Marcello and Els complement each other seamlessly! Projects are still conceived and realized together. It is no longer a secret that Marcello mainly draws and Els mainly paints, but be careful because before you know it you will buy a drawing by Els or a painting by Marcello...
Marcello and Els are inspired by, among other things, the world of Rock 'n Roll. They have been working together for years on a collection of portraits of renowned rock artists. This 'Rock Art' can be purchased via this site.
