Marcello Scarselli, a contemporary Italian artist, embarked on his artistic odyssey following his graduation from the State Technical Institute of Pontedera. It was at the renowned International School of Graphics, "Il Bisonte," in Florence, where he refined his skills in drawing, carving, and engraving, laying the foundation for his artistic prowess.
In the early 1970s, Scarselli emerged onto the artistic scene, participating in collective exhibitions and immersing himself in the aesthetic discourse of the time. Influenced by Tuscan artists and cultural exchanges, his early realistic works gradually evolved into a captivating synthesis of abstract and informal expressionism, marked by bold sign gestures and a dreamlike innocence.
Renowned critics, including Dino Carlesi and Nicola Nuti, lauded the stylistic eclecticism and boundless freedom evident in Scarselli's artistic language. His paintings exuded a graphic sensibility, conveying a sense of narrative urgency through lyrical signs and expressive brushwork.
Scarselli's artistic journey soon transcended national borders, as his works found resonance in solo exhibitions across Italy and abroad. Venturing into the realm of sculpture, he crafted notable pieces like the bronze bas-relief of Vittorio Emanuele Square and the monumental sculpture "Pinocchio and the Game of the Circle."
In 2011, Scarselli achieved international acclaim with an exhibition at the Royal Opera Arcade in London, expanding his artistic footprint to diverse settings, from fine wine labels in Bolgheri to locations for advertising photo shoots.
Continuing to push the boundaries of his artistic exploration, Scarselli participated in a myriad of exhibitions over the years, including "Humanitas Machinæ" in 2013 and "Ignis" in 2015. His creative journey remained vibrant and dynamic, culminating in recent engagements such as "Artinsolite Teatro Del Silenzio" in 2022 and the exhibition "Good Morning Taviani" in September 2022. Acknowledged by luminaries in the art and culture realm, Scarselli's works have found homes in prestigious museums, public installations, and private collections.
