Marc René Geiser was born in Thun and grew up near Basel. After a long-term stay in the southwest of Munich, he now lives and works near Basel again.

His artistic influences come from his hometown, which is known for its art and museums. From an early age he was fascinated by the mysterious moods of Max Ernst, the power of Bernhard Luginbühl's sculptures and the playfulness of Jean Tinguely's figures. But also the legendary creatures of Arnold Böcklin or the quiet drama of Hodler's landscapes and people. But of course there were many others. He would definitely like to mention Luigi Colani's daring forms and visions.

During countless museum visits, he marveled at foreign tools and weapons in the Museum of Cultures, marveled at artifacts whose meaning he did not understand and immersed himself deeply in foreign worlds that were familiar to him didn't seem so far away. Or he became intoxicated by the thousands of shapes and colors in the insect collection at the Natural History Museum Basel.

In his work, he likes to experiment with different materials such as wood, paper, clay, found objects from nature, glass or metal. For a long time he worked with pure colors and worked a lot with casein colors that he created himself. He prefers to paint his pictures on MDF boards, which he primes several times. He mixes all of his colors himself, which means he usually uses pure pigments, which he layers on top of each other using a glaze. In the contract sector, he is particularly fascinated by valuable surfaces such as lacquer or polished wood. He often takes simple materials or found objects and refines them using complex techniques, but always in such a way that the entire process and the original material remain visible.

In addition to his manual methods, he also experiments with creative coding and leads with it continued his experiments with transparent layers.
