Manuel PAOLI - Sculptor -
Born in Marseille, June 23, 1962.

Manuel Paoli introduces himself as Stonecutter; it’s the rough and raw side of the material
and men who extract it from the quarry and work it for millennia, who
fascinates.
He likes to confront the hardness of the rock, to imagine a work in the block, to give it
body, forget it for a while, then come back to caress the polish of the marble and
melt into the richness of colors that patient polishing exudes.
Researcher of form and line of force, stone sculptor above all, but also tailor
of wood, iron cutter, or plaster or clay modeler. Trying his hand at drawing, at
painting, to the mixture of materials and processes, he always returns to his material of
predilection, stone.
