Manoel Britto was born on September 11th, 1950, in São Paulo, Brazil.
In 1975, he took part in his first collective exhibition. Soon afterwards, he went to Paris, where he lived for three years and was influenced by the artist Raya Perez, who introduced him to abstract painting.
His works, which range from the figurative to the abstract, often mixing both, among other techniques, present challenges to common perceptions, that aim to provoke the viewer’s sensibility.
Manoel Britto presently lives in São Paulo, and has been exhibiting his work in several Brazilian cities, as well as in Portugal, the United States, and Canada.
