Winter in the Polish Bieszczady Mountains. The start of the dog sled race is approaching. The dogs are waiting for the moment to start. I have been assured that they love to run. Just what is this love based on? For the most part, people run not for the sheer pleasure of running, but to win some kind of prize. It could be to lose a few pounds, to get in better shape, to win an Olympic medal or to become famous. And what about our dogs? They are closer or distant cousins of the wolves. They too are running for a prize. Praise, pats on the back and petting await them at the finish line. And a bowl full of food.
