The painting of the North American Maehr is movement and light. The artist's proposal is not limited to a mere visual effect. Multicolored shapes and clarity prevail. the screens reminiscent of the stained glass windows of a Cathedral, the light falling on the elements of nature. Maehr plays with the way of seeing and making people see, building a particular way of involvement with the real and the imaginary. His painting is restless and uncertain, it does not obey standards, it renegotiates its space on the canvas, in the eyes and in the minds of those who relate to it. The line establishes the contours and fulfills its delimiting function. The emphasis on the delimitation of these spaces ends up producing an effect of potentiation of colors. Each color has its own dimension and fulfills the role of energizing, giving movement. The geometry of shapes and the escape from classical three-dimensionality stand out. Obviously, we must not touch the works but the works of Maehr can touch us. We ended up surprised by the touch of his work, of experiencing the sensation of being touched without touching.
