Martin Luther was likely born in Kronach, Upper Franconia, around October 4, 1472. He was a German painter and graphic artist. He is one of the most important German Renaissance painters. In 1505, he became the court painter at the Electoral Saxon court. In his workshop, he made a lot of altarpieces and paintings that told stories. A lot of portraits of his masters and the reformers Martin Luther and Philipp Melanchthon were added to this. Later, his son Lucas Cranach the Younger took over the workshop that his father had started. Lucas Cranach the Elder died in Weimar, Germany, on October 16, 1553.
