Laurence Desamber, alias Lode, is a contemporary French sculptor. She likes to connect with materials, with their constraints, with what they provoke as tactile sensations. The artist looks for the one that best corresponds to his state of mind: starting from a precise idea or keeping a certain freedom, leaving room for improvisation.
Emotion is at the heart of his works. Inspired by the feelings that run through her, she explores bodily expression with refined sculptures representing characters in unusual positions where balance and imbalance coexist.
Lode produces more engaged sculptures, echoing current events, revisiting symbolic figures.
In his portraits of women, the emotion is lighter. Lode seeks to challenge the viewer with gentleness, tenderness and humour.
