Christine Pons is a multifaceted artist, born on October 4, 1960 in Algiers. Her atypical career is marked by a childhood filled with changes and discoveries, with stays in several countries that deeply influenced her artistic vision.
After Algeria gained independence, Christine and her family lived in France for a year before moving to Madagascar, where they stayed for two years, then again for three years. These first years of expatriation were fertile ground for her creative imagination. Then, it was in Guadeloupe, in the Antilles, that she spent three years marked by the discovery of exotic cultures and environments.
Christine Pons then settled in Greece for a period of twenty years, where she worked in the field of jewelry. This stay was particularly influential on her work, allowing her to explore design and immerse herself in a world of precision and refinement. At the same time, Christine never stopped drawing, her passion for art having been present since her early childhood.
Her quest for knowledge and experience also took her to Cameroon, where she had an enriching experience with children eager to learn. This period reinforced her appreciation of cultural diversity and inspired her in her artistic practice.
Self-taught, Christine Pons draws on her travels and long immersions in different cultures to enrich her work. Her work is a vibrant blend of cultures, a reflection on the diversity and interconnectedness of peoples. As a painter, sculptor and photographer, she creates works that capture and express this cultural mosaic, transforming her experiences into artistic creations.
